DESCRIPTION:10am – 2pm 3rd Feb 2026 – Women’s Resource Centre CEDAW Consultation event at Fourways 2\, hosted by The Women’s Workshop for NWN\, including lunch \nA unique opportunity to get involved in a United Nations initiative\, and to raise the profile of Northern rural women. \nJoin the Women’s Resource Centre (WRC) team led by Sue Robson for an in-person CEDAW event in Northumberland. CEDAW is the Convention for the Elimination of Discrimination Against Women. You will have the chance to contribute to the civil society report (List of Issues) that WRC is submitting to the CEDAW Committee. This event is open to all women\, women’s organisations\, and allies who have a common goal of advancing equality and human rights for women and girls. \nThe event is in person but it will also be possible to join online. \nRegister here \nCEDAW Consultation Event Northumberland Survey \nWhat is CEDAW? \nThe Convention on the Elimination of All Forms of Discrimination against Women (CEDAW)\, adopted in 1979 by the UN General Assembly\, is often described as an international bill of rights for women. DESCRIPTION:Trauma informed mindfulness for professionals: using mindfulness to support people who have experienced sexual violence\nVenue: In-person central Newcastle \nDuration: 6.5 hours \nDate/Time: 10am-4.30pm Tuesday 3rd February \n  \nThis training explores what is meant when we refer to Mindfulness and how traditional Mindfulness methods can be triggering for survivors of sexual violence. \nThis training also introduces the subject of sexual violence\, focussing on the meaning\, impact and prevalence. We will also provide a sound understanding of how to use Mindfulness within your own practice. \n  \nWe developed our specialist Mindfulness for Survivors Toolkit alongside a group of survivors of sexual violence and Mindful Therapies. You will learn and practice some of the exercises from our Mindfulness for Survivors Toolkit. \n  \nAll learners will receive an interactive E-Copy of the Toolkit as a resource for working with clients. \nLearners can purchase hard copies of our Toolkit from our shop here or via invoice. Mindfulness for Survivors – Rape Crisis Tyneside and Northumberland \nThis is a small group interactive multi-professional training event with a maximum of 12 participants. \nTea\, coffee and biscuits will be provided. Please bring your own lunch\, as this will not be provided. \nAll of our in-person events are fully accessible. Whilst some of our services are specifically for women and girls\, our training is open to everyone. \n  \nLearning Outcomes \n\nDefine Mindfulness\nUnderstand how traditional Mindfulness methods can be triggering to survivors of sexual violence\nDefine sexual violence and understand its prevalence\nUnderstand the effects of sexual violence\nUnderstand how mindfulness can be helpful to people who have experienced sexual violence\nKnow how to lead short mindfulness practices with survivors of sexual violence\nKnow how Mindfulness can be used in your own self-care\n\nCOST: £95 \n\n\n\n\nRape Crisis Tyneside and Northumberland has over 45 years’ experience in delivering specialist sexual violence services for women and girls who have experienced sexual violence. Our training is written\, designed and delivered by professionals who are specialists in working with women and girls who have experienced sexual violence at any time in their lives. As well as providing specialist services to people who have experience sexual violence RCTN works strategically to raise awareness of their clients’ needs and to deliver and support sexual violence prevention work. \n  \nWe can deliver in-house training for your staff team; these can be one of our standard training courses or bespoke training. We also offer self-guided\, online training.
