Community Capacity Micro-Grants

The application window has now closed

Community Capacity Micro-grants fund Northumberland-based community groups to run projects that boost local wellbeing.

We’re looking for projects that strengthen local networks and increase the range of community activity available to Northumberland’s adult population allowing them to age well– especially those at risk of social isolation, older people at risk of frailty and those in need of support with financial well-being. Priority will be given to applications that include volunteering opportunities and clear plans to reach communities of need.

Previous Awards

Demand for the first tranche of the Community Capacity Micro-grants was exceptionally high, with 65 strong applications received. Following a competitive selection process, 14 community projects were awarded grants ranging from £600 to £5,000, representing a broad mix of initiatives spread throughout Northumberland.

Nicola Duffy, Programme Director of Thriving Together, who oversaw the awards process, said:

“We were overwhelmed by the quality and creativity of applications. These microgrants show the strength and commitment of our voluntary and community sector – people coming together to make a real difference in their own areas. It’s inspiring to see such a wide range of projects, all focused on helping people stay healthy, connected and active.”
