Welcome to our Northumberland Recovery College monthly newsletter with some updates on current sessions, some exciting new sessions and also our updated timetables for August.
Updates to Sessions
- Feel Good Foundations – our online 6-week course exploring the foundations of good mental and physical health has still got some availability, see attached flyer
- Menopause Workshops – Finding the Me In Menopause, looking at how the Menopause affects your mental Health, there are still places available on both workshops online Monday 17th August 6.00 – 7.30 p.m. and Ashington, The Bothy, Monday 24th Aug 6.00 – 7.30 p.m. – see attached flyers.
- Being a River – creative workshop sessions for wellbeing exploring art, place, colour and connection in and around the riverside environment of Berwick-upon-Tweed, Mondays 2– 4.30pm. 4 sessions: 10th Aug, 24th Aug, 31st Aug & 7th Sept. in YHA Berwick, Dewar’s Lane, Berwick TD15 1HJ. Designed for people looking to support their wellbeing, offering an opportunity to spend time outdoors, try simple creative activities and connect with others in a supportive setting. No previous art experience is needed. Places are very limited
- Crafty Craic Ashington – this session has moved to The Bothy, still running at the same time 11.00 am – 1.00 pm on a Thursday
New Sessions
- Work Well – this 4 week course to support people to maintain good mental health and well-being in the workplace, for people preparing to return to work or currently working. Please see attached flyer and summary information. Please contact the College direct via email nrc@everyturn.org if someone is interested as it does have specific eligibility criteria. Please note that this is starting on Wednesday 12th August, apologies for the short notice.

- Reflect, Create, Become – a 4 week course using creative tools and reflective activities to support your wellbeing. This face-to-face course is starting on Monday 21st September 10.00 – 12.00 for 4 weeks in the Miners Lamp Café in Prudhoe.
- Breaking the Anxiety Cycle – a 6 week online course exploring what anxiety is, how it affects us and develop practical coping strategies, starting Monday 28th September
- Mindful Poetry Circle – a 4 week online course using the power of poetry connect with others to share emotions and find comfort through shared creative expression, starting Wednesday 2nd September
- Masks Off Cramlington – a creative and supportive 8 week course in Cramlington looking at why we wear masks, exploring identity and help build confidence and resilience, starting on Monday 7th September.
- Wellbeing in the Wild – in College Valley, Kirknewton, Wooler NE71 6TW – Friday 11th September 10:30am – 3pm. Reconnect with nature and recharge your wellbeing at our welcoming and supportive wellbeing day. Explore wildlife, uncover local history in Kirknewton, and enjoy a mindful walk, with the option to explore local ruins or get creative through nature-inspired craft activities. You can make your own way there or transport is available from Wooler bus station if needed, pick up 10am, drop off approx. 3:30pm.
Embracing Emotions and Coping Strategies
These two online courses are sessions that we will run regularly if we get enough interest, so if you know of anyone that would be interested get them to enrol and we will contact them direct when the next course is starting.

All NRC sessions are free for adults (18+) who live or work in Northumberland. Upcoming sessions can all be found on the ‘What’s on’ page on our website, and our weekly timetables can be found on our website.
Our sessions aren’t drop in sessions so to join us, please complete our enrolment form, let us know which session(s) you would like to sign up to.
